Our Story
It started with a simple need: better, purer seed for the farmers around us.
- 25+ years in seed production
- 1,000+ contract farmers
- Our own automated, high-capacity plant
- Contract seed for seed companies, and certified seed under our own name
SADF (Shriram Agrotech Development Farm) is a seed production company in Malout, Punjab, India. For more than 25 years we have produced seed on contract for seed companies, and certified seed under our own name.
Everything we have built, from our farmer network to our plant, serves one belief: farmers deserve seed that is pure and of good quality.
A story that grew with the farmers around us
Let's revisit a few highlights from our journey.

Our backstory
Our roots in agriculture go back generations. In the early 2000s, we became retailers of cotton seed, and when Bt cotton was approved in Punjab, we became one of its major sellers.
Those years taught us how much farmers depend on pure seed, and how much of a good crop begins with it. Punjab is a major producer of wheat, so wheat was where we chose to start producing seed ourselves.
We sold it directly to local farmers, under our own brand.

Our first grading plant
In 2012, we completed our first high-quality grading plant. Pure seed is grown in the field, but it is finished at the plant, and from that year we had one of our own.

Fowler Westrup, and a bigger role
In 2016, we added Fowler Westrup plants, machinery from a maker of seed-processing equipment, to raise the quality of our seed further.
That step let us take on bulk seed production for other companies and societies. The same year, the business, then known as Sardar Seed Farm, took the name Shriram Agrotech Development Farm.

An automated, high-capacity plant
In 2025, we added an automated, high-capacity plant. It lets us clean, grade and pack seed at a larger scale, for seed companies and for our own certified seed.

SADF today
Today, we grow seed on contract for seed companies, and certified seed under our own name.
The work is still what it was on day one: pure seed, of good quality.
Today
The next season, and beyond
We have come a long way since the early days, from a seed retailer to a bulk seed producer. We remain rooted in Malout, Punjab, and focused on the same thing: pure seed of good quality, grown with the farmers who work with us. We look forward to the next season, and the ones after it.
Where that journey has led
Today we run storage, machines and a plant built to handle seed at scale, from the field to the bag.
Covered storage
Seed is stored lot by lot, with each variety kept separate, from harvest to dispatch.
